Sodium hypochlorite is obtained by saturating sodium hydroxide solution with chlorine.
This is an unstable compound, decomposes under heating, contact with acids, sunlight and heavy metals. It requires storage conditions in accordance with the provisions of Section 7 of SDS.
Due to strong oxidizing and antiseptic properties it is used in chemical industry and as a bleaching agent in textile, paper and pulp industry.
It is also utilized in production of agents designed for disinfection of water, premises and equipment.
